GLAD, McCUNE NAMED TO ALL-MET SQUADS

Junior standouts Kirsten GLAD and Maise McCUNE have been named to the Washington Post 2010 All-Metropolitan Soccer Teams for their outstanding contributions to the St. John's College High School Women's Soccer Team.

Glad, a member of the Damascus Soccer Club, posted a league-high 11 shutouts and an 11-8-6 record in her second year as a member of the varsity squad. She was named first team All-WCAC and was the consensus-best goalkeeper in the Washington Catholic Athletic Conference as detemined by the league's coaches.

Her best overall performance of the season came at home on November 2nd when she recorded 14 saves to lead the Cadets to a thriling 2-1 victory over O'Connell. She also posted 149 saves on the season (1st in the greater Washington, DC region) and a 0.98 goals against average.

Junior midfielder McCune, a starter on the natonally-ranked McLean Strikers, joins Glad on the WCAC first team for the first time in her high school carrer. She scored three goals and dished out three assists over the course of a season curtailed by injury. She appeared in 16 matches and recorded 26 shots on goal, many of which came duing set pieces, as she advanced forward from her defensive midfield position.

Congratulations to Kirsten and Maise as well as other members of the team that were honored by the WCAC for their leadership and accomplisments during the 2010 season.
