St. John's College High School is a co-educational, Catholic secondary school located in the Chevy Chase neighborhood of Washington, DC. Sponsored by the De La Salle Christian Brothers, St. John’s was founded in 1851 and is the second oldest Christian Brothers school in the United States.
St. John's has been at the forefront of the education of today’s youth. The Christian Brothers are dedicated leaders and scholars who provide education and mentorship unlike other schools. We strive for excellence in teaching, while helping our students inquire a sense of Christian values. At the same time, our teachers also help students understand themselves with a respect and appreciation for others.
For more than 150 years, St. John’s mission has been to educate the complete person. St. John’s provides each student with the necessary support and resources to become Christian leaders of today and tomorrow. Through our community service program, our students receive a sense of responsibility that allows them to appreciate the joys of selflessness and giving of ones self. Our students are also imparted with a greater sense of purpose through liturgies and religious instruction in a Christian atmosphere.
Since we have a proud and honored history, several of our current students represent second, third and fourth generation of family members to attend St. John’s. The lessons and experiences that a St. John’s graduate receives will greatly influence their future.
The school serves approximately 1,100 students from the Washington Metropolitan area. St. John’s welcomes students of every race, creed and background to study on our campus.
St. John's is located adjacent to Rock Creek National Park in Northwest Washington. Our campus is situated on Military Road, between Connecticut Avenue and 16th Street, two major thoroughfares that connect Downtown Washington and Montgomery County, Maryland. The 30-acre campus provides students with the best and most state-of-the-art academic and athletic facilities.
